Lakeview Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce its 3rd annual $5 Jewelry & Accessory Sale for the faculty and staff of the St. Tammany Parish school system will take place on Thursday, October 23 from 3pm – 6pm at the hospital. All teachers, administration and others employed by St. Tammany Parish Schools are invited for an afternoon of food, beverage, shopping, and drawings for exciting prizes, including iPads and a 3-hour limo ride. “This event is a celebration of their dedication to our children and a simple way to express our gratitude, while giving back to our community,” states Bret Kolman, Lakeview Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer. A $1,000 cash prize will be donated to the school who has the highest level of attendance at the event. A portion of the proceeds from the $5 jewelry & accessory sale benefit the Care for KIT (Kids in Transition) Fund administered through the Northshore Community Foundation. Lakeview Regional Medical Center is proud to match funds raised.
In 2013, an estimated 1,250 St. Tammany Parish youth were identified as “students in transition”—youths who are in foster care, homeless, or in the process of transitioning out of homelessness. Care for KIT assists students with home and school needs outside the scope of the school district’s federal programs. “Homelessness in St. Tammany Parish is a very real situation that most people at first do not believe when they hear about it,” states Lynn Johnson, Kids in Transition Liaison. “We are thankful for community organizations, like Lakeview Regional, who not only help support our families, but raise awareness of homelessness right here in our community,” continues Kathy Zweifel, Kids in Transition Coordinator.
