Whatever the problem, our team of healthcare professionals will work with each patient and his or her family to relieve the symptoms while providing a safe, comfortable environment where care and services are carried out in a responsive way.
Senior Behavioral Health
The Senior Behavioral Health program is Lakeview’s inpatient geriatric-psychiatric program for short-term care. It is a hospital-based program for individuals 55+ who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems. The 16-bed unit is specially designed to meet the needs of geriatric-psychiatric patients. The program provides compassionate, short-term, comprehensive care for older patients in a secure, caring setting. This unique program was developed to assist individuals in dealing with grief, physical disabilities, emotional problems, or later-life issues that interfere with daily functioning and family relations.
Individual Treatment Plans
Psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals develop a treatment plan based on the individual needs for the patient. Treatment options help individuals renew social, physical, and mental skills. Treatment plans, which are monitored closely and updated when necessary, may include counseling, group therapy, and coordinated activities.
Specialized Services
Lakeview uses a comprehensive approach to address the needs of seniors and their families. Services include: Continued Care Planning, Diagnostic Assessments, Family Conferences, Family Education, Group Therapy, Independent Living Skills Education, Individual Therapy, Medication Management, Patient Education, Physical Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Registered Dietitian Services and Social Worker Consultation.
Admission Criteria
Admission requirements include persistence of presenting symptoms, a reasonable expectation that the illness will respond to continued treatment and evidence that inpatient hospitalization provides the most effective level of care appropriate for the client.
Any physician, mental health profession, family member or concerned individual may make referrals to Lakeview Regional Medical Center. Call (985) 867-3930 to learn more about the inpatient geriatric-psychiatric program. All calls are kept confidential.
