Quality in Nursing

Nursing Staffing goals were met in 2014 and 2015 through adherence to staffing guidelines set in Nursing Unit Plan of Care policies. These are revised and reviewed to meet the needs of patients cared for while at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. Other staffing effectiveness indicators monitored and reported to the Board of Trustees are employee satisfaction, Registered Nurse and staff turnover rates, overtime used, agency nurse usage, and unit specific Quality indicators.

Lakeview Regional Medical Center has adopted scheduling excellence policies and procedures to encourage a balance between work and life outside of the workplace. Nursing competencies are evaluated when hired during orientation and annually to ensure adequate and competent nursing staff and nursing leadership is in place at Lakeview Regional Medical Center at all levels of our organization.This is demonstrated through the following indicators:

Core Measure Quality scores above the 90th CMS percentile for Heart Attack Care, Congestive Heart Failure Care, Pneumonia Care, Surgical Infection Prevention Care, Immunizations, and Prevention of Venous Thrombosis.
Recognition by the Joint Commission as a Top Performer in Quality Measures for 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Primary Stroke Certification with the Joint Commission and Silver Plus Get with the Guidelines Designation with American Heart American Stroke Association
