LAKEVIEW REGIONAL HAS ADDED NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR REAL-TIME MONITORING
March 08, 2012
COVINGTON, LOUISIANA – The Lakeview Regional Medical Center OB/GYN department has been using a revolutionary AppPoint™ software platform to optimize pregnancy and perinatal outcomes, as well as enhance productivity within the hospital setting since September 2010. AirStrip OB™ delivers vital patient waveform data—including fetal heartbeat and maternal contraction patterns—in virtual real-time directly from the labor and delivery unit to a medical professional’s mobile wireless device. Currently, there are eight OB/GYNs at Lakeview Regional who use AirStrip OB™ on their smartphones to view vital signs of an expecting mother and unborn child.
“The interpretation of fetal heart rate and other data is prone to subjectivity, but with the AirStrip technology, the physician is able to see the data in real time and doesn't have to rely on verbal explanations,” states Dr. Daniel Mokry, Past Chair of OB/GYN at Lakeview Regional. “The ability for our physicians to receive real time patient information is invaluable.” Physicians are now able to closely monitor patients 24/7 when the demands of their day necessitate their periodic absence from Labor & Delivery. Additional patient information such as nursing notes, vital signs and order results is also accessible. “As one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the area, we are proud to add another dimension to the overall advanced care we provide our patients,” states Jason Cobb, Chief Executive Officer at Lakeview Regional. The AirStrip OB™ software is encrypted and the application is password-protected, therefore the information transmitted is HIPAA compliant.
