Experienced Chef Joins Lakeview Regional Medical Center’s Food & Nutritional Services Department
August 24, 2012
Lakeview Regional Medical Center welcomes Chef John Hickson as its new Director of Food & Nutritional Services. Chef Hickson brings with him 25 years of experience in the healthcare arena holding positions such as Food & Nutrition Director, Executive Chef and Corporate Executive Chef. “Chef Hickson comes to us with extensive training and abilities to lead this department forward while continuing to provide high quality food and nutrition services to Lakeview Regional patients,” states Stephen Robinson, Chief Operating Officer for Lakeview Regional Medical Center.
As Lakeview Regional Medical Center’s Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Hickson will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Food and Nutrition Services Department including meal planning, preparation and service, as well as dietitian services provided to the hospital’s patients. The Food and Nutrition Services Department is preparing to implement a personalized, in-room meal service for patients, modeled after “5-star” hotel room service. The program will enable patients to order food when they want it, while allowing for some dietary restrictions, with a focus on freshly prepared foods.
Chef Hickson is certified as a Culinary Administrator by the American Culinary Federation and is a Certified Food Service Management Professional through the National Restaurant Association. He is a Certified Dietary Manager and currently serves on the state board of the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals. Chef Hickson is also a member of the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation Item Review Committee for the national ServSafe exam. In addition, he teaches food safety education and the National Restaurant Association’s ManageFirst program at various locations throughout Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
